ICC29 Conference

As part of the General Meeting, a one day conference will explore the current challenges to human rights protection, in particular the impact of violent extremism and terrorism and the massive displacement of people.

NHRIs’ representatives will discuss their experiences, approaches to, and challenges in relation to the following topics:

  • NHRIs operating in situations of conflict and post-conflict, taking into consideration the Kyiv Declaration and the Secretary-General’s Human Rights Up Front Initiative;
  • Developing human-rights based approaches to the current massive displacement of people, involving asylum-seekers, refugees and migrants, and States’ responses thereto;
  • developing human rights-based approaches to violent extremism, racism and xenophobia, and hate speech and States’ responses thereto;

The Conference will also include a Knowledge Fair, a face to face event in which participants set up displays to share their work.
