ENNHRI is today launching a new publication – ’National Human Rights Institutions and Human Rights Defenders: Enabling human rights and democratic space in Europe’ – ahead of ENNHRI’s annual conference on the topic on 25th October 2018 in Athens, Greece.
The publication outlines the work of European NHRIs in supporting and protecting Human Rights Defenders, including examples from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, France, Georgia, Moldova and Poland.
It was also presented today by ENNHRI Board Chair and Croatian Ombudswoman, Lora Vidović, at the International Conference of National Human Rights Institutions in Marrakesh, Morocco, where she said:
“In ENNHRI, we focus our thematic work on, among other things, the European human rights frameworks, shrinking space and the rule of law, including the protection of Human Rights Defenders and support to NHRIs under threat. Today, we release this publication outlining some examples of European NHRIs’ work in supporting Human Rights Defenders.”
