Second ENNHRI Meeting on the Role and Responsibilities of NHRIs in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Non-Government Controlled Territories, including in Non-recognised and other Disputed Territories (NGCT): Continuing the Dialogue

ABOUT EVENT

The primary objective of the meeting is to consolidate the dialogue that began last February at a first meeting in Brussels and find more concrete ways on how NHRIs can protect and promote human rights in NGCT.

Participants will exchange experiences to agree on key approaches to working with and possibly in the NGCT, ensuring that there is a common understanding of the role and responsibilities of NHRIs in NGCT. NHRIs will explore ways to cooperate with each other and with other key stakeholders working in NGCT, where relevant and appropriate. NHRIs will hear from regional and international stakeholders about their views on the most pressing issues and engage in discussions on how to jointly address these in the future. The meeting will allow for parallel dialogue sessions and consultations among participants.

The meeting will gather relevant ENNHRI members, NHRIs with experience of working in NGCT from other regions of the world, as well as representatives from key international stakeholders (UN agencies, CoE, EU, OSCE/ODIHR) and civil society representatives who address human rights in NGCT.

For more information, contact Cecilia de Armas or Zoé Vautard from ENNHRI Secretariat.

The meeting falls under the activities of ENNHRI’s project on the Role of NHRIs in situations of (post-)conflict.
