GANHRI Bureau Meeting under the Chairmanship of Beate Rudolf of the German Institute for Human Rights

Representatives of NHRIs from the four regional networks (groupings) in Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, are convening in Berlin, Germany, on 12-14 October, on the occasion of the GANHRI Bureau meeting. The meeting takes place under the Chairmanship of Beate Rudolf of the German Institute for Human Rights, GANHRI Chair for the 2016-2018 period.

During the three-day event, participants will identify GANHRI’s strategic direction for the next three years, on the basis of key international developments and challenges to be addressed by NHRIs. Topics under discussion also include NHRI accreditation and cooperation with GANHRI’s strategic partners.

The GANHRI Bureau meeting is an opportunity for representatives to welcome the new GANHRI Staff: Special Envoys Florence Simbiri Jaoko and Alan Miller (former ENNHRI Chair), and Stéphanie Louvier, GANHRI’s first Finance and Administration Officer.

ENNHRI is represented on the Bureau for the 2016-2018 period by the following members, elected at the General Assembly meeting in Utrecht on 1 December 2015.
• Croatia - Office of the Ombudswoman of Croatia
• Finland - Finnish Human Rights Centre/Finnish NHRI
• Georgia - Office of Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia
• Germany - German Institute for Human Rights

The Bureau is assessing the applications for membership, reviews and determines the accreditation status of NHRIs. It is comprised of 16 members, 4 from each of the regional networks of NHRIs (Africa, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific and Europe).
