AGE Platform Europe, together with its partners, are marketing the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with an awareness campaign for ‘Ageing Equal’.

The campaign kicked off on 1st October and is structured around 10 thematic weeks, culminating with the International Human Rights Day on 10th December. According to the press release: ‘For 70 days, the “Ageing Equal” campaign will invite you to reflect on the prevalence and gravity of ageism and on the importance to stand up for your rights no matter what age you are.’

All are encouraged to take part in the campaign by sharing stories and testimonies about age discrimination and spreading the word through social media with the hashtag #AgeingEqual. A communications toolkit can be found here.

The campaign is a good opportunity for NHRIs to shed light on the human rights situation of older persons in their country, and for attention to be brought to ENNHRI’s project on the human rights of older persons in long-term care.
