NHRIs in (Post) Conflict

NHRIs are state-mandated bodies, independent of government, with a broad legislative or constitutional mandate to promote and protect human rights. NHRIs are accredited by reference to the UN Paris Principles to ensure their independence, pluralism, accountability and impartiality. NHRIs fully compliant with UN Paris Principles are accredited with ‘A’ status and are granted participation rights before various UN bodies, including the Human Rights Council.
